We believe that the success of any business depends on its people: building relationships is a key part of what we do. As a firm, we have always prided ourselves on maintaining a high proportion of qualified and experienced individuals, who are able to understand our clients requirements. All clients, subject to specific requirements, can expect to deal with a client director and other members of our specialist teams below. 

 

 

  

David Williams

David Williams

Director

David is a director of the firm and has over 25 years post qualification experience. He provides a wide variety of both business and personal clients with advice relating to their accounting, tax and audit affairs, as well as providing general business advice. As the director responsible for Audit and Assurance matters David deals with some of the firm’s larger audit clients. David has considerable experience in Corporate Finance matters and in tax planning for both businesses and individuals.

Having trained as a Chartered Accountant with one of Kent’s leading accountancy practices of the time, David qualified and was admitted as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1984, becoming a Fellow of the Institute in 1994. David joined Dendy Neville as a senior manager in 1987, became a partner in 1990 and director in 2007, when the firm incorporated.

Outside work David tries to keep fit by visiting the gym a couple of times each week and walking the family Retriever. David is married with three adult sons, two in higher education and the eldest serving with the Royal Navy. He loves walking and hiking (especially if this involves a country pub!) and he usually visits the Lake District or Scotland once a year with the long term aim of completing the Wainwright and Munro peaks. David has also recently qualified as a Royal Yachting Association Day Skipper.

Director

David is a director of Dendy Neville and works with clients in many business sectors advising on tax planning, business structures and audit matters. David also assists owner managed businesses with corporate and succession planning and  personal clients on all tax matters including inheritance tax and capital gains tax strategies. David is also responsible for a number of solicitor clients where Solicitors Accounts Rules work is required and is experienced in advising legal practices generally.

David joined Dendy Neville in 1988 having trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with another Kent based practice. David became a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1988 and a Fellow in 2003. David became a partner at Dendy Neville in 1993 and then a director in 2007 when the practice incorporated. David previously studied at the University of Kent at Canterbury obtaining a BA Honours degree in Accounting and Computing (IT to younger readers!) in 1984.

Away from work, David enjoys spending time with his family. David has two young sons and his weekends revolve around trying to keep them entertained and country walks with the latest addition to the family, a Harris Hawk called Alora! David's “sporting” interests include playing pool and watching football. He is developing an interest in wine and hopes to tour the vineyards of California one day.

Andrew Perkins

Director

Andrew is a director and is involved in providing accounting and taxation advice to a wide range of family companies, actively assisting in their development and expansion. He has a variety of audit clients and also provides personal taxation advice and planning to various types of client, including a number of high net worth individuals. He also specialises in advising on small to medium sized business start-ups.

He qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant with a medium sized Kent practice and although he now lives in Ashford he has strong links with Maidstone. Andrew joined Dendy Neville in 1997, as part of the audit/accounts department and was promoted to manager in the same year. He became a partner in July 2000 and a director in 2007, when the firm was incorporated.

Away from the office Andrew spends much of his time following the many and varied sporting pursuits of his two young sons, which in the summer means spending much of his spare time on the boundary of any one of the many cricket grounds dotted throughout the county. Andrew still finds time to regularly attend his local gym, ski, cycle and play a little sport himself. He also likes to travel, read and enjoys eating out.  

Paul Gittins

Tax

Paul is a tax manager whose client base includes large corporate clients and groups.  He also brings his previous ‘Big 4’ experience to advisory projects, resolving HMRC enquiries and dealing with international tax matters.

After university, Paul obtained his qualification as a member of the Institue of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales at a small accountancy firm in Shropshire.  He then spent around 10 years working at KPMG in London specialising in corporation tax, international tax and Mergers & Acquisitions for a variety of clients from small family companies up to FTSE 100 businesses.  He also became a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of taxation.  

Paul joined Dendy Neville in summer 2010.

Outside work Paul dedicates most of his time to his wife and young daughter. Any spare time is devoted to playing his guitars and kidding himself that he’s ‘still got it’!

David Felton

Tax

David is a senior tax manager of the firm. He has a wealth of experience in dealing with and advising both individual and corporate clients on all aspects of tax compliance and tax planning including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and corporation tax. He also specialises in the taxation of trusts.

David has been with Dendy Neville for a number of years. He qualified and became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1971 and is now a Fellow of the Institute and a member of their Tax Faculty. He was a founder member of the firm’s tax department in the 1970s.

David has had a life long interest in steam railways and has been a volunteer on the Kent & East Sussex Railway for over 40 years. He is currently a Trustee of the Rother Valley Railway Heritage Trust, a registered charity, and chairman of the Rother Valley Railway, the company rebuilding the heritage railway between Robertsbridge and Bodiam, in East Sussex.

Michelle Nicolson

Tax

Michelle is a tax manager responsible for a wide ranging portfolio of personal and corporate clients, including high net worth individuals, non residents, trusts and both small and medium sized private companies.

Before joining Dendy Neville in 2008 for a fresh challenge, Michelle worked as a personal tax manager for a firm of Kent based Chartered Accountants for 15 years. She passed the examinations of the Association of Taxation Technicians with her previous firm.

Michelle has significant experience in many aspects of tax, including non resident and non domiciled tax, employee benefits and share schemes, Lloyds matters, dealing with HMRC enquiries and compliance visits, and tax planning.

Much of Michelle’s time is taken up with family life, enjoying the opportunity to play with her young son’s Lego!

Sunny Saturdays can find her sailing the high seas with her husband, racing at Whitstable Yacht club and hoping to avoid the usual capsize and unscheduled swim!

Gemma Hutchinson

Tax

Gemma deals with a wide ranging portfolio covering personal, partnership and corporate tax clients. She has experience in dealing with and advising clients on various aspects of tax compliance and planning including income tax, capital gains tax and corporation tax. She also has an understanding of compliance matters covering inheritance tax and trusts. In addition to this, Gemma also advises clients on the treatment of various benefits in kind and expense payments and has experience in preparing forms P11D.

Gemma joined Dendy Neville in 2006, after beginning her tax studies at another local firm of accountants. She qualified as a member of the Association of Tax Technicians in 2008 and in January 2012 Gemma became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

She previously worked in a variety of non-accountancy roles, which gave her a wide experience of different walks of life, before deciding to settle into a career in tax.

Gemma is very interested in conservation and animal welfare.

Gemma is also a sports enthusiast although these days she is more of a spectator than a competitor! She is a black belt in Karate and has represented England in the sport. She has also represented Maidstone in tennis and was selected for a Kent County Development Squad.

Kelly Owen

Kelly is an accounts and audit manager and assists Andrew Perkins in managing his client portfolio. Kelly works with a variety of clients from sole traders and small limited companies through to groups of companies. Kelly’s role includes assisting clients to implement accounting systems, production of management accounts, dealing with various taxation matters and managing audits.

Kelly joined Dendy Neville in 2000, having trained and qualified with another Kent based practice. Kelly was admitted as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 2000 and became a Fellow of the Institute in 2010. Previously Kelly successfully completed a BA Honours degree course in Accounting and Finance in 1996.

Much of Kelly’s spare time is taken up in assisting her husband to run a successful business. She also enjoys yoga, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Adrian Hull

Adrian is an audit and accounts manager working primarily with David Hill.  Adrian deals with all areas of accounts and audit for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and LLP’s, corporation tax matters and Solicitors Accounts Rules assignments as well as being involved in the implementation of internal software developments.

Adrian joined Dendy Neville in March 2004 and qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales shortly afterwards.  He began his accountancy career by working in a small Kent based practice immediately on leaving school after completing his A levels in 1999.

Adrian plays hockey and tries to play golf when time permits, all be it less frequently since the arrival of his daughter in the summer of 2009.  He is a keen follower of Tottenham Hotspur.

Steven is an audit and accounts manager spending the majority of his time being responsible for the completion of audits and the supervision and training of junior staff. He also deals with specialist audits including charities and Solicitors Accounts Rules.

Steven trained with a local firm gaining a wide range of general practice experience before qualifying as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1996. He joined Dendy Neville in 1999. Since joining Dendy Neville he has gained further experience in dealing with specialist assignments, including due diligence and international groups.

Steven likes to spend his spare time with his family.

Sharon Norman

Audit

Sharon is an accounts manager, assisting David Williams. She works with a varied portfolio of sole trader, partnership and small limited company clients. She specialises in assisting clients to maintain their accounting records on Sage and preparing management accounts, VAT Returns and annual accounts. Over the many years she has dealt with clients, she has built strong relationships and in many cases, is now very much part of the client team.

Although not formally qualified, Sharon has over 25 years experience in practice, 22 of these with Dendy Neville.

Sharon enjoys listening to music and eating out.

Chris Lockhart

Audit

Chris is an audit and accounts manager spending the majority of her time planning and dealing with audits for a number of clients. She deals with specialist audits including charities. She also assists the tax department when necessary, putting her previous experience to good use.

Chris qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1985 and was admitted as a Fellow of that Institute in 2011. Chris gained significant audit experience working for KPMG in the Midlands, and having subsequently spent some years as an accountant in industry, she is uniquely placed to understand the difficulties faced by accountants in the commercial sector.  

She reentered private practice in the late 1990’s and gained experience in taxation before returning to audit when she joined Dendy Neville in 2007.

Rebecca Crook

Payroll

Rebecca is our payroll supervisor looking after payrolls for an extensive client portfolio.  Her duties include dealing with all aspects of payroll management and processing.

She has a high level of contact with clients, liaising to ensure deadlines are met and that this crucial and sensitive area of client operations is dealt with in an accurate and timely manner.

Rebecca worked in London for 16 years as a payroll administrator before deciding she would like to place more emphasis on lifestyle by working locally.  She took a post as a senior Payroll Administrator for a large cleaning company, before being promoted to Payroll Supervisor supervising a team of 6.  

In 2004, Rebecca gained her IPPM Diploma in Payroll and Pensions Management.

Rebecca joined Dendy Neville in 2008.

Rebecca enjoys going to the gym, Pilates and Zumba and also enjoys watching golf (although she doesn’t play).  She is a volunteer for guide dogs for the blind, providing a stable home environment for dogs during their final three months of training.

Rita Jones

Payroll

Rita is a payroll administrator assisting with an extensive client portfolio.  Her duties include dealing with all aspects of payroll processing and administration, including dealing with starters and leavers, end of year returns and liaising with clients and HMRC.

 

Rita joined Dendy Neville in January 2005. During that time, she has built up strong relationships with the clients on her portfolio.

 

She has previously held similar roles in other organisations, dealing with payroll and other areas such as sales and purchase ledger administration.

 

Rita enjoys travelling and tries to keep fit by visiting the gym and swimming. 




John Sumner

John Sumner

Admin

John is the firm’s financial controller and IT manager.  As one of the two practice administrators, John is responsible for internal accounting matters including billing administration, debt collection and internal reporting.  

Initially employed principally as the firm’s IT Manager, he still oversees the infrastructure and implementation of all hardware, software and security systems.  

John joined Dendy Neville in 1999 having previously spent time within the finance function of the NHS and as a project accountant in industry, primarily using his computer skills to develop systems and implement a large accountancy application.

John qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants at Dendy Neville. He has a degree in Information Management and Finance, which has remained relevant to his role as the firm's IT manager. 

John has a wife and two children who he loves to spend time with, and is actively involved with the church of which he is a member.

Trevor Ingram

Admin

Trevor is one of the firm’s two practice administrators. He assists the directors in dealing with a range of matters, including Health & Safety, the firm’s technical training programme, managing the technical library and a number of other areas,

After university, Trevor qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with a Kent based firm of accountants, eventually becoming a partner in the firm. Trevor moved into industry as the finance director of a manufacturing company before deciding to move back into practice.

His main outside interest is sport. Unfortunately these days, it is mostly as a spectator rather than a participator, although he still umpires matches in the Kent Village Cricket League.

He also enjoys summer walks in the countryside, especially if they end at a village pub!
